Sperm Plus Tablets: What Old Unani Texts Say and What Modern Research Shows
Ask any older Hakeem in Faisalabad, Lahore or Delhi which herbs belong in a men's tonic, and the list sounds almost the same: Salab Misri, Behman, Jaifal, Jawatri, Long, Darchini, Zanjbeel, Pista. These names have been written in Unani manuscripts for centuries, long before anyone had a microscope that could count sperm.
Sperm Plus Tablets are built on that same classical list. But a fair question today is: has any of this actually been tested? We went through the research to answer that honestly, herb by herb, including where the evidence is strong, where it is only from animal studies, and where it is still mostly tradition.
How to Read the Evidence
Not all "research" is equal, so each herb below is marked with one of three labels:
| Label | What it means |
|---|---|
| Human study | Tested in men. The strongest kind of evidence, although many trials are still small. |
| Animal / lab study | Tested in rats, mice or cells. Promising, but results do not always carry over to people. |
| Traditional use | Described in classical texts and long practice, with little modern testing so far. |
The Herbs, One by One
Zanjbeel (dry ginger) Human study
What this means: DNA quality inside the sperm matters for fertilisation and early pregnancy, so this is a meaningful finding, even though ginger did not raise sperm numbers in this trial.
Pistah (pistachio) Human study
What this means: it supports what doctors already say: food that is good for blood vessels and cholesterol is also good for erections.
Jaifal (nutmeg) and Long (clove) Animal study
What this means: it is an interesting example of Unani scientists testing their own tradition, though human trials are still needed. These spices are used in small, balanced amounts in compound formulas, never in large quantities on their own.
Darchini (cinnamon) Mostly animal studies
Salab Misri Traditional use
Behman Sufaid, Behman Surkh and Shiqaqul Misri Traditional use
Mastagi Romi, Darunaj Aqrabi and Tabasheer Traditional use
The rest of the 19 ingredients follow the classical Unani recipe. The complete list is on the Sperm Plus Tablets product page, and a simpler overview is in Inside the 19 Unani ingredients.

The Bigger Picture: What Science Says About Herbs and Sperm
Many of these herbs are studied for one shared reason: they contain antioxidants. Oxidative stress, caused by smoking, heat, pollution, obesity and poor diet, is one of the best-understood ways sperm quality is damaged.
The most careful summary of this research is the Cochrane review on antioxidants for male subfertility. It found that antioxidants may improve pregnancy and live birth rates, but rated the evidence as low certainty, mainly because many trials were small. (Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, 2019)
In plain words: the direction is encouraging, but no supplement, herbal or chemical, is a guarantee. What science agrees on strongly is that lifestyle matters. Mayo Clinic lists smoking, heat, obesity, alcohol, drugs and stress among the factors that lower sperm count (Mayo Clinic).
How to Get the Most From Sperm Plus
| Step | What to do |
|---|---|
| Before you start | Get a semen analysis so you know your starting point (how to read your report) |
| Daily dose | 6 tablets a day: 3 in the morning and 3 at night, chewed with milk or water |
| Alongside | No smoking or naswar, loose cotton underwear, no laptop on the lap, 30 minutes of walking, 7 to 8 hours of sleep |
| After about 3 months | Repeat the semen test. New sperm take around 2 to 2.5 months to form, so earlier tests can mislead |
| Full course | 5 to 6 months (see our 90-day plan) |
If your report shows zero sperm, or you have pain, swelling or a lump, please see a urologist first. Herbal support can come later, alongside medical care.
Sperm Plus Tablets: Rs 7,500 for 30 days, Rs 15,000 for 60 days. Free delivery and cash on delivery across Pakistan, with 5-day returns on sealed packs (return policy). Couples can also look at Men and Women Complete Fertility Support, and men who prefer a safoof can try Fertivance.
